Tour Update – May 14, 2011
Hey, all y’all! If you’ve been keeping up with my Facebook page and Twitter stream, you know that Ryan Pelton and the Difference recently made a lightning run to Utah for a one-night show. I thought I’d take a few minutes to tell you about it, and to show you some photos I took along the way.
The trip was to perform at the Utah Trucker’s Association Convention. Continue reading

New Web Site – Manly Kitchen
Hey, all y’all! Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the Spring weather. I’m very excited to announce a new web site that is taking shape as we speak. To be honest, I’m somewhat surprised that my cooking videos have garnered such a positive response. But it’s also pretty cool. (smile) Continue reading
New Video – Long Way Home
This video goes back several years, to a local music festival in Danville, IL. SlangFest is mounted each year by the area’s top Metal band, Boonslang. Deeper Blues performed an afternoon set on the outdoor stage, then was the last band to perform that night. This is from the early show.
Because this was a heavy rock audience, we leaned in that direction. I thought this one would be a fitting close to our first show. I’m glad to say that it worked out fairly well. (smile) Continue reading
Facebook Integration
OK, if this works correctly, you will see this in your Facebook stream.
My tech wizard – Roger Barlow – just turned me on to a new plug-in for this web site that will automatically post an excerpt, and link to, new posts from this site. Even better, comments left on Facebook will automatically appear in the comments stream for the post. Continue reading
New Video – Black Sheep
For several years I have operated multiple You Tube channels. To be honest, what began as a way to simplify my life quickly became an unnecessary complication. So I am now moving other content to the Lane on Bass channel.
Black Sheep was the second single from Dig the Hole, the first CD I did with Deeper Blues. Continue reading
Online Lessons Moved

The only reason for this post is to inform you that I have removed all bass guitar lesson content to my new site: Bass Lessons HQ. Continue reading
Servant-Bassist: veteran bassist Lane Baldwin included in prestigious servant-leadership anthology
For three decades, Lane Baldwin has been known in the music world as Lane on Bass. Now, the veteran bassist can add Lane on Business to his list of nicknames. Baldwin was recently published in The Spirit of Servant-Leadership (256 pp, Paulist Press), the latest in a series of prestigious anthologies on servant-leadership, which many call the foundation of humanistic management principles. Edited by Larry Spears and Shann Ferch, the collection also includes material from many notable management gurus, including Peter Bock, Margaret Wheatley, George SanFacon, and Maria Ortiz.
Parallel to his decades-long music career, Lane works as a business consultant focusing on training and leadership. Ten years ago, he combined the two careers in his work with David Nordschow (founder of both Eden Electronics, and recently, David Nordschow Amplification), focusing on sales training, customer service, artist support, and community building. Baldwin is now the VP, Sales & Relationships, for DNA. Continue reading
Recipes: My New Blog Category
Greetings and welcome to my new Recipe category. I decided last night to begin posting some of my recipes here for others to try. Not that I think I’m some great cook, mind you. But I do love to bang pots and pans around, and burn stuff on the stove, in the oven or on a grill.
I’ve tweeted and posted Facebook status updates about cooking and they always seem to draw interest from readers. And since I enjoy writing (although not quite as much as cooking – and eating!) I though this might be a fun thing to do. Continue reading
