Last Rehearsal Day
Today is the final rehearsal day for Ryan Pelton & the Difference. Yesterday we slammed through 15 songs for the variety show; today we are set to learn 20 more. So, about 65 songs in three days! Yow!
In future posts I’ll introduce the other band members. For now, I’m still getting to know them. I don’t know if I mentioned this earlier, but I had never met – much less worked with – any of the other members of the organization. So far, however, they’ve been extremely cool, and extremely helpful as I got myself up to speed. I have really appreciated their assistance a LOT!
Of course, the main one to thank is Mickey, the music director. He’s had it even harder than me, as he already had tons to do before having to bring a new bass player up to speed. He’s been a huge help, as have the charts he’s written.
I just got off the phone with Joanne at Spector. She tells me we’re all set for my new Coda 4-string to ship tonight and arrive before 10:30 tomorrow morning. Boy am I looking forward to that!
The reason I’m getting this bass is so I can have a more “traditional” look on-stage, and still play an instrument from my manufacturer of choice. I’ve been playing Stuart’s instruments for more than fifteen years, and I wasn’t about to change now!
Many thanks to Stuart and his fine crew for getting this bass built in record time. Bro, your service matches your instruments – top quality at all times!
So… I’ve got to shut down and get to the final rehearsal. Tomorrow is Bus Call and I’ll probably be totally distracted and confused… because that’s how these things go, you know? But I’ll be back soon with my first Road Report.
Stay tuned, y’all. This is going to be a blast!
Keep Thumpin’!
